The Cadent Houses (analogous to the Mutable Cross)
In houses 3, 6, 9 and 12 a procedural thought process is followed, starting with the free orientation and gathering of facts in 3, followed by the analysis in 6, the summary diagnostic picture in 9 and the transcending abstraction in 12. The cycle is characterized through all-round openness, sharing, finding the truth and witnessing it. In a position of ruler 3 in 9, the observed facts immediately work out as opinion formation, whereby the conversation and the exchange of opinions may gain in directness, but still lose well-founded (6) concept formation. Ruler 9 in 3 comes in handy in discussion groups, forums and debates. An open listening attitude is less present. Generally, on axis 3-9 we find not only the fighters for an ideal, but also writers, news gathering journalists, foreign correspondents and overseas representatives. The sixth house of the investigative journalist is also switched on on the 3-9 axis. On axis 6-12 we find the functions in health care, as well as one's own heath, illnesses and having to refrain from participating in life in certain cases (12). The position of ruler 6 in 12 indicates a profession in the (invisible) nursing care and the operating theater, where the patient is under anesthesia. Ruler 12 in 6 brings health problems that can limit social employability and working life. Relationship 6-9 supports the scientific company. In ruler 6 in 9, the results of the analysis contribute to the well-founded opinion formation and diagnosis, while in ruler 9 in 6 the position once taken (9) is examined again (6). A booth of ruler 3 in 12 conveys hidden and non-public information; espionage work is also included here. The person is not communicative and often unknown in this aspect in his own family. In the position of ruler 12 in 3, the concrete facts are lost sight of, obscured or forgotten. It is true that a lot is told, but does the story correspond with the facts? Anonymous letter writers are also found here. Finally, the combination of ruler 2 and ruler 9 provides a firm belief that can hinder free opinion formation. There is a tendency to think dogmatically.
A detailed example
To illustrate, my teacher Hans Cosman once gave the full sequence of the state of ruler 7 in the twelve houses as the fields in which a partnership (including marriage) works out. He mentioned that with ruler 7 in 1 the partner serves as a back cover for his own independence, while his own actions (1) are also controlled by that partner (7). In ruler 7 in 2, the partner contributes to their own income, while ruler 7 in 3 is hindered by squeezing ties and prefers agreements of which the cooperation becomes a casual relationship again after some time. There is also a tendency at this stand to act as an intermediary in linking others to each other (broker). In ruler 7 in 4 participation in a family relationship plays a role. In ruler 7 in 5, the partner is chosen to start a family with children, while ruler 7 in 6 entails subordination and service in the relationship; often the relationship arises in the workplace. Ruler 7 in 7 brings a relationship for the sake of the relation itself. There is a basis of reciprocity and equality. Ruler 7 in 8 contributes to working out the psychological problems of one or both partners, as well as about sex and divorce. With ruler 7 in 9 the bond is carried by the shared ideals and/or religious beliefs, while with ruler 7 in 10 prestige and status play a role. With ruler 7 in 11 the mutual circle of friends acts as a binding partner, while ruler 7 in 12 gives a partner who is permanently in isolation (abroad, hospital, prison, or in their own workshop - inaccessible to others). The personal feeling is sublimated here in which the desire for connection is sacrificed. This position brings loneliness and anonimyty for both partners.
The contributions of the other rulers in the twelve houses can now also be worked out according to the positions described here.
